What Is Affiliate Marketing And How Does It Work?
In today’s world, social media has become part of our lives and many are wondering what is affiliate marketing. In this article, I will be explaining how affiliate marketing works in an in-depth definition and why it works! In my last article, I posted a list of ways to make money online and many of it has to do with affiliate marketing. There are thousands of people in the world making a full-time income and you can too! Let’s continue.
Affiliate Marketing: What Is It?
To break up affiliate marketing into basic understanding, it’s when you’re promoting products for other companies and in exchange, you get a commission for every sale. This is why the internet is so powerful in today’s world because there have been case studies of people that have become extremely rich thanks to affiliate marketing.
You can find a product or service that you like and earn a little nice piece of the profit for every sale. It can be a huge commission too if you’re planning on selling expensive products. The commission can be great if you’re promoting it to the right audience.Â
Many social media platforms dislike the usage of affiliate links, so before getting into affiliate marketing, I would recommend that you already have a website to promote your products on. You can directly promote to your target audiences, but I can tell you from experience that people also dislike that. When you have a blog about a product, you can create trust and people will more likely to purchase that product.
If you’re here, you’re most likely trying to live an entrepreneurial lifestyle because who doesn’t want to avoid working a 9 to 5 when you could be working at the comfort of your home? Well, I’m glad you have that entrepreneurial mindset!Â
Affiliate Marketing For Bloggers!
If you’re a blogger and have an enormous amount of followers, great! You’re off to a great start. If not, then I recommend that you start a website and start off with several social media platforms to build your following. Several of the social media platforms that many bloggers use are Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. There are many more, but these are my top three social media.
When you’re a blogger for a website or even a video blogger, you can promote your affiliate links on your website freely without getting flagged. Social media platforms dislike the usage of affiliate links so what do you do? You can create a blog post about a certain product and place your affiliate link on there. It sounds simple and easy but you have to create value to the product on your post. That’s where you can sell and build trust with your audience.
You can use your affiliate link as an anchor text to make it less spammy on your blog post. Do you know how people say content is king in the SEO world? The same applies to affiliate marketing. When you have great content for a product, your post will slowly rank because your audience trusts you. When your product reviews rank, you will get free traffic from the search engine and more traffic equals more chances of people purchasing the product you’re promoting.
Top Earning Affiliate Marketers
- Justin earns $4,713 per month. In this case study, he mentioned that his goal is to achieve $10,000 a month! Minimum wage here in California is about ~$2,200 a month from working full-time and that is before taxes. Justin surpassed that. Justin is almost half-way there and that’s still a lot of money for a job that can provide you great freedom.
- Reddit user @bprs08 posted a 17-month affiliate marketing case study in which he earned a total of $49,000. By month 17, he was already racking in nearly $6,000. I wonder what the results were after month 18 for him? The results he posted were amazing and I had to say, this also inspires me as a blogger and affiliate marketer myself. Unfortunately, month 17 was his last case study and that was around August of 2018.
- Warren Wheeler $2,758 per week! This YouTube video will explain his case study and how he achieved that amount. It’s astounding! I hope this inspires you too especially when you’re planning on entering the affiliate marketing world.
Affiliate Marketing Average Income
So what is the average income for an affiliate marketer? This answer can be quite hard to answer because there are affiliate marketers out there that are making hundreds of thousands every year and there are ones that are making enough to buy a case of beer every month. It all really depends on the amount of traffic you’re getting and who exactly you’re targeting.
I did a little in-depth research for you to give you a bit of an idea. According to ZipRecruiter, the average salary for an affiliate marketer makes around $67,215 a year.
Don’t depend too much on the stats because there are thousands of people who are making from zero to pennies every day and there are people that are making over a thousand a day. You can look at the top affiliate marketers and ask yourself, what are they doing that’s right? What’s the average successful blogger doing to be making that much money per day?
Your income all depends on your content and how much your audience trusts you to be purchasing from the product that you recommended.
Is Affiliate Marketing in 2020 Still Worth It?
There will be many people that’ll tell you it’s not worth wasting your time on because it’s oversaturated. Well, Google has a system that favors your website if you promote highly engaging posts. When your website is favored, more people are reached because they will rank you higher on their search engines. Unlike 5-7 years ago when it wasn’t as saturated, it’s still very possible to achieve success in affiliate marketing so don’t give up just yet. Just because people aren’t successful with affiliate marketing in today’s world doesn’t mean you should fully believe their words. They’re not taking actions while you are.
In today’s internet, social media and search engines are all looking for great content just like the users. There are long-tail keywords that don’t have much content on them and that’s where you can find your demand for a product. It’s a gold mine.
Remember that hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard. You just have to be consistent and create the king of them all; outstanding content. If you believe affiliate marketing isn’t the right path for you, there are many other ways to earn an income. Thanks for reading “What is Affiliate Marketing?
