How Do I Use Venmo?
Venmo is a peer-to-peer digital payment platform that allows its users to send and receive money through their mobile phones. Worth noting with Venmo is the fact that it is only available to those living in the US.
To create an account start by downloading and installing the app on a phone, there is a Venmo app version for both Android and iOS so getting one that works with your phone should be very easy.
Once installed, open the Venmo app and choose “sign up” and key in a unique username and a strong password. Now verify your phone number and email address then add a bank account and that’s it, you have a working Venmo account.
With a working Venmo account, you can now start using Venmo or enjoying its services. Let’s say you want to pay someone with Venmo, simple;
- Tap on the payment icon (Located in the top-right corner)
- A text box will appear. Enter details of the person you want to pay or send money to.
- Enter the amount you want to pay
- Add additional information regarding the payment (this is optional)
- Click on pay (Keep in mind, you’ll be asked how you want to pay. Selecta debit or credit card that’s linked with your Venmo account)
Keep in mind that Venmo doesn’t charge users any fees when they send or receive money through the app. The same also applies to withdrawing money into your Venmo account.
Can You Use Venmo For Churches?
Now that we’ve gotten a hang of what Venmo is and how it can be used, it is time to look at whether or not it can be used for churches. The answer to whether or not you can use Venmo for churches is very simple and it’s no, you cannot use Venmo for churches.
Going by information shared by Venmo on their Terms & Conditions page, Venmo cannot be used to solicit or collect charitable solutions. Given that these are what churches live by, we can conclude that it is not possible.
There is however an option of integrating Venmo as a checkout option and using other peer-to-peer apps like Zelle or PayPal for donations.
Currently, users cannot use Venmo for churches since it doesn’t allow not just churches but any organization to collect or solicit charitable solutions.
